Mr. Kamran Ghalchi of Ghalchi & Associates has been a pioneer in and at the forefront of class action type litigation since 1997.  Ghalchi & Associates represents plaintiffs and litigates, on class-wide bases or in representative actions on behalf of the general public in the public interest, against large corporations and entire industries, on issues that significantly affect large and wide segments of the public.  We litigate in both federal and California state courts.  (We do not represent clients solely on individual type bases, except in very few and special cases).

Ghalchi & Associates seeks not only compensation and relief for class members and the public interest, but often seek to raise public awareness many years prior to their recognition, thereby promoting prevention.  In doing so, we apply creative strategies and arguments to obtain successful results.

In recognition of our efforts, Mr. Ghalchi of Ghalchi & Associates has received supportive coverage in the news and was invited to testify as an expert witness before the U.S. Congress (click here for Mr. Ghalchi’s submitted expert testimony).

Ghalchi & Associates has been a pioneer in its “industry encompassing” approach and in representing worthy causes many years prior to their general recognition.  A few examples include:

  • Vs. Banking Industry for alleged violations consumer privacy. As early as the late 1990s, when corporate collection and use of customers’ personal information for marketing purposes (along with the development of the internet) were still in their nascent stages, Mr. Ghalchi of Ghalchi & Associates greatly helped establish the modern field of private class action privacy law by successfully representing many millions of consumers on class-wide bases against the banking and financial industries for allegedly improperly sharing or using their customers’ personal information for marketing purposes. All these actions were brought to a successful conclusion, resulting in injunctive relief, conferring tens of millions of dollars in free services, products and benefits on class member consumers, and awarding millions of dollars in cash to numerous and varied laudable non-profit organizations and charities. (Please see, e.g., press conference and reception held by U.C. Berkeley’s Boalt School of Law, honoring one of such awards to the U.C. Berkeley Center for Law & Technology (BCLT) and Samuelson Law, Technology & Public Policy Clinic.)

  • Vs. Automotive Industry for alleged exposures to auto. emissions in fight against carcinogenic pollution and related reproductive toxins. Likewise, as early as 2001, Mr. Ghalchi has prosecuted, in a representative capacity on behalf of the general public, actions against the automotive industry for alleged exposures to carcinogens and reproductive toxins in auto. emissions and other alleged auto-related pollutants – to raise public awareness many years prior to the now global effort to shift to cleaner and zero emission vehicles. In recognition of these efforts, the California Attorney General took the unprecedented step of publishing a letter in support of Ghalchi & Associates’ and our client’s efforts to combat alleged pollution and related carcinogens emitted by automobiles. In that letter, the Attorney General noted the “extensive compilation of information,” that the “recipients of ... [the] notices ... appear[ed] to be in violation of the Act”, and that our client and our firm could assert a “prima facie case.” (A copy of the letter can also be found posted at times on the CA Attorney General’s website).

While our practice spans broad and varied range of industries and is not limited to any particular sector, our practice areas include:
